Taco Challenge 2006

Like most absurdities around the office, this one started with Spivey claiming he could eat eight tacos from Taco Bell. This time, we took him up on his offer.

To sweeten the deal for spectators, and to ensure Spivey’s participation, Heather made it into a challenge. She would go 1-for-1 with him on Tacos.

In other words, Spivey got served.

So Vick, Geeven, Spivey, Heather and I headed to Taco Bell and it was on. Geeven, Vick and I each had ordinary Taco Bell meals. Spivey and Heather began doing rounds of three tacos each.

I’m too tired to really do this post justice tonight, so I’m going to leave it off here with a few tantalizing tidbits and photos and will fill in more details later.

Suffice it to say Spivey was ahead until the very end. Heather used two special abilities: MMP and BNR; but Spivey had no specials available. After 24.1 tacos, 4100 calories, and over a half pound of fat, it was all over.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I’m not 100% sure what to catagorize this under. But in any event, we had breakfast at Tiffany’s this Sunday morning. It was pretty clearly a girl’s dream. Very strange indeed. It had no allure for boys, but the girls there were just loving it. Mimosas and tasty little pastries, champagne, cakes frosted to look like tiffany’s boxes. And to top it off, famous ballerinas from Seattle’s Pacific Northwest Ballet. Apparently, one of them was quite famous if you follow that sort of thing.

So while drinking mimosas, eating pastries, and hanging out with famous ballerinas, the girls tried on hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Huge rings, necklaces, etc. Apparently, this is a very appealing thing to do for girls.

Anyway, it was good to see people so happy.

After the event, we went to the University District Fair, which was really pretty fun. They had something there called a sweet Johnnycake, so obviously I tried that. It was really very good. Reminded me alot of a beignet.

Will the comic book guy gave Vick and me 3 passes for 2 to tonight’s sneak peek of X-Men 3. So that’s cool. I’m going to head out of work early and work from Pacific Place while waiting in line (good thing there’s WiFi there).

Soy nuts aren't half bad

So now that I’m in my second week of 20/20, I can start to have different things for my snacks rather than just shakes. Specifically, I can have 2 ounces of protein and either a half cup of berries or a small apple. I’ve been sticking to my shakes for my morning snacks, but in the afternoons I’ve taken to eating an apple and either 2 ounces of jerkey or a serving of soy nuts.

And the important part of this post is that soy nuts aren’t bad. They’re salty and crunchy. Good stuff. Try ’em out sometime.
